Welcome...let's paint!!

Hello my friends

Welcome to my new blog Tigs White Canvas, Paint with Me.

You can read about my plans for this blog through the pages that are linked at the top.  Information includes: the inspiration behind Paint with Me; some of my own work over time and some of the common statements or questions I face when I say to anyone "you can paint too!".

If you are interested in more, pop to the page "Would you like to Paint with Me?" to see if you think this may be the place for you, then come on back: I'll be waiting.

Want to join in? Excellent. I only have a few rules here at Paint with Me:
  • have fun;
  • relax;
  • breathe;
  • be positive;
  • no fear.

There are no skill requirements and if you don't have access to a particular medium, use what you do have!!  I don't even care if you use textas!  Fun, remember: there should be no stress here.

Lets get started

As we are in the first week of a new painting, the first thing I am going to do is have you make a start.  And yes, this is without me.  I have outlined in Guidelines the full plan I have for you and I painting together, but for this first week the plan is this:
  • I will give everyone 1 week to paint their first impressions of my selected image below.
  • Send your completed piece through to me at: paintwithme@mail.com. Whilst sending your piece to me is not compulsory, it will help to serve two purposes:

    1. give me an indication of your current skill level and to support any areas you would specifically like to target; and

    2. give you a "before" and "after" from your Paint with Me experience.
During this perioed I will be available via the email address listed above to answer any questions that you may have.

Remember, this is our experience together, so be sure to ask lots of questions if you need to get the most from this.

So what image will I start with?  Here she is!

Okay, are you breathing?

Now may be a good time to read the FAQ if you haven't already!  In there I will answer what happens if you make a mistake; what to do if you can't draw; what if you don't have the correct equipment... trust me, this is going to be okay.

Follow the plan outlined above: paint your first impressions...

Nope, I don't mean this: "The Scream"

...and send them through to me via the email listed; I'll be waiting.

If you are interested in grabbing a "Paint with Me" button, there she is to the right!  I would be really happy and very grateful.

Next week, I will step you through our first step together.

Good luck!!

  1. Hi Cath,

    I can't wait to get started. When you said 'Okay, are you breathing?', I noticed I was holding my breath!! See how nervous I am?!

    I'll put your button on my blog right away....

  2. Well, we've both finished....I'll send 'em through when I've edited them both in Photoshop. ;-)

    I'm rather sad at how rusty I am with watercolours....in fact, not even rusty...I don't really remember ever using them like this before.

    Anyway, thank you SO much for a FAB idea. We've had a lovely evening together painting....all thanks to you.

  3. My mother is a watercolor artist and she also paints Iris. She belongs to the Iris club in Nashville too. If she had a computer, she'd enjoy your posts very much.
